got a key

I've got a teaching job for the fall and I have the key to my classroom. better yet, I don't have to move to the rainforest at the edge of the world between now and next friday to take the job (as I would have had to do for the other job that was a prospect).

now all (ha! all?) I have to worry about is the stuff that comes with being a brand new 8th grade math-science teacher - like prepping to teach science in an art classroom without equipment in place and with a less than thrilling set of textbooks.

aie! students will start filling up my new classroom in just under 2 weeks and I have to be ready.

anyone with a brilliant idea for a first week of school project - something to get kids excited about doing science.
