book meme time, sorry it took me so long alecto23,

1. Number of books I've owned.

Lord, I dunno.  I currently have enough to fill at least half of the bookshelves that are in every damn room in my house (the other half being filled with Brian's books).  Probablu upwards of 1000, considering that some are stacked two layers high and two layers deep.

I sold at least 200 books when my parents moved to Arizona, probably another 200 when I moved to Massachssetts, and other 200+ since I moved to Seattle.

Suffice it to say I have a lot of books, though never so many that I don't always have at least 20 out from the library at all times.

2. Last book bought.

Do the books I get Brian to buy at work count?  If so it was The Witch's Boy, by Michael Gruber - a fantasy that I liked a lot - it references at least 10 different fairy tales in the storyline, and yet still has some originality.

If those don't count, then I think it was Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norell, which I still haven't actually read. sigh.  Either that or Environmental Detectives - which is a science curriculum unit I did this year. It's a lot of fun

3. Five to ten books that mean a lot to me

Animal Dreams - Barbara Kingsolver
Basin and Range - John McPhee
Memory and Dream - Charles de Lint
Losing my Faculties: a Teacher's Story - Brendan Halpin
The Wood Wife - Terri Windling
The River Why - David James Duncan
Invisible Cities - Italo Calvino
Dream Work - Mary Oliver

4. Five more people to post answers in their own journals

most of the people I can think of who have livejournals have already answered, but I can think of 3:
