some years ago I had a long, drawn out dream, the details of which I won't bore you or myself with typing out here. suffice it to say it was very, very vivid. the part of the dream that stuck most in my mind though, was the label for a strangely dangerous bottle of champagne (don't ask, it was poisoned, I think).

anyway, if I wrote novels, I would definitely find a way to work in this champagne, just because. though I've never been able to draw the label very well, I've always wanted a t-shirt of the label for this imaginary bottle of champagne: the name is "boneyard champage". It's written in one of those gravestone-ish fonts. underneath the name is a skeleton, in red, sort of impressionistic strokes (matisse-ish, maybe) lying down, propped up on one elbow, looking straight out of the label, with a little motto underneath that says "a vintage from beyond the grape"

it's one of those odd things I often think of when I'm still awake at 2 am, and everyone else in the house (including all 3 kitties) is asleep.

If anyone made Boneyard Champagne, it would be Heller.

interestingly enough, in the dream it was you that gave me the bottle of boneyard champagne.

Just making sure... Do I live in your old house?

yup. you live in my childhood home. which I gather now has new kitchen cabinets. I bet that if I ever get to see it again, it will be almost unrecognizable as the house I grew up in.

is there still a concrete griffin along the path to the street? did you ever find the large concrete mushroom at the edge of the woods behind the house?

The cabinets... I don't know. They might work out some day. One was split and several were the wrong size. I knew we shoulda used graph paper instead of computers.

No griffin. Sorry. Never saw one. We do have a concrete goose, which we've added, but she's no griffin. The mushroom is still in full effect and much-loved by the cats.

There might be a baby girl here soon, if all goes well. Late September maybe.

by the by, didn't mean to startle you by telling you you'd been in my dream years ago, when you didn't know who I was. makes me sound like a stalker, or something.
